View Article  Heritage Centre

Well we got to the Heritage Centre and it's a really lovely building just off the main road in Lytham.  It's just the right size for a guild like us and I think we can make the exhibition look really professional.  We've all gone away with things to sort out, we want to show the process from sheep to garment, have traditional areas but also new wools that will appeal to new knitters.

I've entered a secret spin being held by a French spinning site where you fill in a questionnaire with all your details, how long you've spun, what type of wool you like, colours etc.  Anyway, I've been spinning for three years now but I've found out the woman I'm spinning for has been spinning since 1971.  I was born in 1970!  No pressure then.  I have to have the wool spun by January 15th so I've got time to think before I get started.  She likes thick yarn and jewel colours so I think it'll be claret or emerald.  It's really interesting though and all the entrants are from round the world so we'll all be learning something.  Have a look

View Article  New Commission

We've started on a new commission and this is the dyed roving.  The colours used were russet, red and gold and it is to be spun to double knitting size.  I think this is a lovely shade, it's to go with a chocolate brown coat which I think will be nice and bright for the winter. Also, brown beads go so nice with the red.  I'll keep updating on the progress.

I use acid dyes which I like because they are so easy to use and there is that element of surprise because you don't always know the final outcome.  I've never been disappointed though, I love the effects.

Two of the lazykaters belong to the Fylde Heddles & Treddles Spinners Weavers and Dyers and we're having an exhibition in the spring so tomorrow we're off to the Lytham Heritage Centre where it will be held to start the planning.  Will take some pictures to post.
